~ King Karl detailing his motivation to create in "Why Not?" |
Krazy King Karl was set to be a minor character in LEGO: The Piece of Resistance, an early version of The LEGO Movie. He is the king of Legotopia, coerced by Black Falcon into assisting his evil plans until he has a change of heart.
Biography[]
Karl ruled over Legotopia, a land of people who created not with a purpose, but just for the sake of it. This presumably led to a lot of spending with no revenue, resulting in a huge debt. Vitruvius had scheduled for the MasterBuilders to meet in Legotopia, in King Karl's Krazy Kastle. When Black Falcon became aware of the meeting, however, he coerced King Karl to help him set up an ambush for the rebels, claiming he would fund Legotopia and cover its national debt if he did. Karl was forced to agree to this.
When Vitruvius' party first arrived in Legotopia and met King Karl, Emmet asked him why he had built so much, making Karl burst into a song "Why Not?" about how useful it is to unleash one's "kreativity". In the Krazy Kastle, Karl introduced them to other MasterBuilders, including Batman and DUPLO. The meeting, however, was ambushed by the Bad Cop, who captured the MasterBuilders and revealed King Karl's treachery to them. As the rebels were being rounded up, however, King Karl, overcome with remorse after Emmet called him out on siding with Empura, jumped into a fight to help them escape. The last the MasterBuilders saw of Karl was him falling on the ground in slow-motion after being struck.
King Karl later turned up during the final battle, revealing that he had survived, and fought off Black Falcon's SKT2 mech on his dino-rocket.
