~ Psychiatrist Cat revealing that he risked his freedom to get Kazbek pardoned in Underwater Space. |
The Psychiatrist Cat was set to be a supporting character in the third Space Dogs film. Whereas in the final script he, like in the first two films, played an antagonistic role, two early drafts had him play a heroic role, supervising the heroes' mission to an underwater city and attempting to prevent its destruction.
Biography[]
Space Dogs: Mystery of Aquapolia[]
In 1974, the psychiatrist cat was one of the officials asssigned to oversee Belka, Strelka and Lenny's journey to the bottom of the Black Sea, alongside Kazbek and Admiral Tylenev. Rather than descend there on a submarine, he remained on board a ship. After the discovery of an underwater city under the name of Aquapolia, he and Kazbek had to try and convince Tyulenev not to destroy it. Eventually, the two would fight the admiral to stop him from firing at the surfacing Aquapolia, but he defeated and restrained them. After Aquapolia's treacherous ruler, "Koala", surfaced and began to emit positive energy, the cat started mumbling snippets of articles on psychology.
Space Dogs: Underwater Space[]
The Psychiatrist Cat was a member of the council investigating the recently discovered underwater city. Under his colleagues' suggestion, he tricked Belka, Strelka and Lenny into coming out of hiding to make them investigate the city. He sent Kazbek after the three, and as they infiltrated a lab where Lenny's old flame Masha worked, they fell into a trap. After learning about it, Kazbek lashed out at the cat, as he believed his friends would die without his suervision. As security dragged Kazbek away and locked him up, the psychiatrist began to reconsider his actions. He addressed the council, advising them to let Kazbek take part in the operation, even taking responsibility for his release, risking arrest if something unexpected were to happen, and managed to convince them.
The psychiatrist accompanied Kazbek and General Seal to the headquarters, and oversaw Belka, Strelka and Lenny's descent into the depths of water. When the general suggested bombing the underwater city after the aquanauts got stuck underwater, the cat managed to briefly distract him. Eventually, he decided to conspire against the general due to deeming him insane, and took Kazbek to the training grounds to discuss the plan. While he argued that he was concerned with saving prehistoric inhabitants of Aquapolia and the nation's reputation, Kazbek believed the psychiatrist to be using him in his own bid to become famed as a savior, and attempted to strangle him in rage, but the cat revealed how much he risked to set Kazbek free, arguing that he wouldn't have done that if he was ready to get rid of him. After learning it, Kazbek agreed to join efforts with him.
When the General Seal had Kazbek locked up to that he could take control of the entire operation, the psychiatrist convinced him to postpone the destruction of Aquapolia, and later put the guinea pig guards to sleep and let Kazbek out. He took part in the heroes' attempt to restrain the seal before he could blow up Aquapolia, and later took part in the dance number initiated by the departing Aquapolians. After the aliens' departure, the psychiatrist cat issued a report about the vast amounts of advanced technology they shared with the Earth prior to their departure.
