Sonic the Hedgehog, Manic the Hedgehog and Sonia the Hedgehog, collectively known as their band name Sonic Underground, are the main protagonists of the animated series of the same name. They are the children of the deposed Queen Aleena of Mobius, banding together to overthrow Robotnik and find their mother. The series was left unfinished, but a final story in the form of a comic published by Archie Comics was in works at one point, planned to be released in Issue 50 of Sonic Universe, but scrapped in favor of a Metal Sonic story.
Biography[]
The exact details of the scrapped story were left unknown for years, until the Archie Sonic Online fan webcomic conducted an interview with Ian Flynn, the story's writer. He revealed that the story would involve the Sonic Underground, supported by all the friends and allies they made over the course of the series, holding a concert on Angel Island, broadcasting it all over Mobius, with their mother joining in at the end, and said concert would somehow lead to the overthrow of Robotnik. After that, a time-skip would occur, showing the characters leading happy lives.
Sega initially approved Ian Flynn's pitch, but then rejected it for unknown reasons, and its spot was taken by the story "Forged in Fire".
